There are several basic rules for healthy teeth. If we take care of our teeth daily, we will reduce the need for professional treatment by 75-80%. There are two good reasons for this: the pain we feel caused by the dentist and the pain we feel caused by the given money that instead of given there can renew our wardrobe or get us in the cinema with our family. Do not underestimate the fact that diseased teeth are the beginning of many internal diseases, some of which may have serious consequences.

Caries. More than 90% of the world’s population suffers from caries. In some countries this percent reaches even 100. From this group we exclude only the Eskimos and the inhabitants of southern regions of Pamir, who do not know this disease. And since we are not Eskimos, it is important to strictly obey the rules, which will save us from dental problems.

Hygiene is the most important thing - proper daily oral care for the teeth and gums is what will keep us away from the dental office. Important are not only the quality of the brush and the toothpaste, but all the other measures of oral hygiene: carefully brushing of the teeth at least twice a day for 2 minutes; cleaning up after meal (dental floss, rinse, chewing gum). The regular dental examinations should not be ignored.

Two factors determine diet: healthy food and moderate diet (no more than 3-4 meals per day and rational carbohydrate intake). Otherwise, teeth can be damaged.

There are natural ways of cleaning the teeth: raw apples, carrots and other hard fruits and vegetables. Remember to get enough food rich in calcium (nuts, green vegetables, milk and milk products), which is the major building material of the teeth.

The temperature of our food is another important factor for the strength of the teeth. Cold or too hot food is bad for your teeth. It is not well to change abruptly the temperature of products. This causes microscopic cracks on the enamel of the tooth.

Gums also require special care. Their bleeding and inflammation is one of the common causes of bad breath from the mouth and loss of teeth. Poor oral hygiene, smoking, specificity of the consumed food and vitamin deficiency lead to unpleasant gum diseases.

Fluoride is another trace element, which is necessary for our teeth. The market offers many products with fluoride: toothpastes, vitamin complexes, elixirs, chewing gums. You should remember, however, that large quantities of fluoride are as harmful to the body as its deficiency.

The dentist cleans professionally the teeth and removes plaque in a way we cannot do with the toothbrush and toothpaste at home. Prophylactic examinations prevent dental caries and severe dental problems that can affect the whole organism.
