The history of Eurosport is fully alive and full of interesting happenings. This was created in 1989 as a venture that was joint between Sky Television and EBU. It was closed down in 1991 due to a complaint by a rival. TF1 saved the channel and in 1993 Screen Sport merged with this company. Since 2001, TF1 has owned this particular channel. The languages that are broadcast from this company include Hungarian, Italian, French, English, Finnish, Russian, Spanish, Norwegian, Cantonese, Greek and Dutch for example. This and so many more languages are broadcast daily.

Eurosport has gone through many different changes since it first started in 1989. It is now a fully functioning satellite channel that also offers HD and motorsports along with the regular channels. The HD channel was launched in 2008 while the news channel was launched in 2001. E2 was launched in 2005 and is seen in at least 25 different countries around the world. British Eurosport has live coverage of sporting events and live commentators at each of these events. You can’t get a better sports channel for the money that covers all the bases as this particular satellite channel can.


Historically speaking Eurosport is a channel that covers a lot of ground in the sporting world. It is now available in Asia and in Hong Kong as of this writing. The headquarters is based in France for Eurosport. There are many stations that broadcast under this name along the European continent. This is shown in most countries in Europe with some exceptions. Commentary is done in the local language but the ads may not be. In 2009 the Asia Pacific version of this channel came online and was available for viewing.
